YR Associates Updates - High court got six judges

High court got six judges, husband and wife sworn together, this happened for the second time in the history of the country

Another history was added with the swearing-in of six judges in the Punjab-Haryana High Court on Thursday. This is the first time in the history of the Punjab-Haryana High Court and the second time in the history of the country when the husband and wife have sworn on the same day. Earlier, Justice AK Pathak and Justice Indermeet Kaur took the oath of office and secrecy together in the Delhi High Court.

Chief Justice Ravi Shankar Jha administered the oath to both husband and wife. While Vivek Puri is the District and Sessions Judge of Mohali, his wife Archana Puri is the Presiding Officer of the Punjab State Transport Appellate Authority. The names of both were sent together by the Punjab-Haryana High Court Collegium. After this it was pending for approval of the Central Government. The Center approved this and stamped the names of four others besides the husband and wife.

Another coincidence in the swearing in the High Court was observed that Karamjit Singh, District and Sessions Judge of Amritsar and Administrative Secretary of the Law and Legislative Department of Haryana and LR Meenakshi I. Mehta are both children of the Chief Engineer father. In such a situation, this swearing-in ceremony was special in many ways.
