NRC Rules: There are violent protests against the revised Citizenship Amendment Act and National Citizenship Register or NRC (NRC) across the country including Delhi, UP, Bihar. However, the government has said that it will soon implement it across the country. Many common documents will be valid for birth certificates, which will ensure that no Indian citizen is unduly disturbed. For illiterate persons who will not have any documents, the competent authorities may allow them to present witnesses or any local evidence on which the members of the community are recommended will be accepted.
These are the rules
According to the amendments made in 2004, an Indian citizen who was born in India on or after January 26, 1950 but before July 1, 1987.
- Who is born in India on or after July 1, 1987 but before December 3, 2004 and his mother or father is a citizen of India at birth, he is a genuine Indian citizen.
People born outside India on or after December 10, 1992 but before December 3, 2004, whose mother or father were citizens of India at the time of his birth.
- Someone was born in India on December 3, 2004, and both parents are citizens of India or one of them is a citizen of India and the other is not an illegal migrant at the time of his birth.
A top government official said on Friday that those born in 1987 or whose parents were born before 1987 in India are Indian citizens according to the law and in the event of citizenship law 2019 or nationwide NRC There is no need to worry.
According to the 2004 amendments to the Citizenship Act, people living in other parts of the country, except those living in Assam, whose mother or father are Indian citizens, but not illegal immigrants, would also be treated as Indian citizens. Those born in India before 1987, whose parents were born before that year, will be considered Indian under the law. In the case of Assam, 1971 has been made the base year to identify as an Indian citizen.
